Black women have curves just like every other woman does. We have to deal with a lot of cultural expectations that make us feel like we don’t measure up. These cultural expectations are not only based on your physical appearance, but also how you act and what you wear. This makes it very hard for some of us to accept the fact that we don’t have the same curves as white women. In this article I am going to share some of my tips for helping you improve your body image so that you can finally love your curves.
First things first, don’t buy into the “curvy is sexy” myth. I know that this might sound stupid and even offensive to some women, but that is exactly how society wants us to feel. The media is reinforcing that being curvy is sexy and women should strive to look that way. The problem is that women’s curves aren’t shaped in the same way as men’s curves. The reason that a lot of black women feel this way is because society is telling them that it must be some genetic thing, but the fact is that we are born with our own curves and those aren’t necessarily larger or smaller than those of white women.
That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t take care of yourself. Black women are just as susceptible to gaining weight just like any other woman. The difference is that we deal with extra weight in the buttocks, but that is just one of the many areas that cause us problems. There are many great products available for curvy black women. If you are tired of spending a ton of money on different products that don’t work, then here are a few things that you can try:
Massage your body. The next tip I have for you is to start paying more attention to how you massage your body. I know that a lot of women are focused on their stomachs and love to focus on that part, but this can really hurt your curves and lead to some major back pain. By massaging your body throughout the day, you will be helping your circulation and making sure that everything is flowing properly. This will also help keep those extra pounds off of your body and help you maintain those curvy black women’s curves.
Wear tops that are right for your body. One of the biggest mistakes that black women make is not wearing tops that are going to flatter their curves. Sure, you know that the girls in Hollywood get the most attention when it comes to their bodies, but you can’t let that be your only way of seeing how you look. There are many great tops that are designed specifically for curvy black women, so you should really make the effort to find out more about them and buy yourself some great tops.
Get massages. Now, we all know that getting massages is something that many people do for their bodies, but if you are worried that you’ll look funny with massage therapy on your arms or back, you should definitely consider getting massages on your shoulders and buttocks. This will help to firm and tone your muscles, which will in turn, help your curves look more pronounced. If you have a body that has a lot of pronounced curves, then massages will definitely be a great way to flaunt them.
Work out with partners. Do you work out with other women? Then you should know that you can also work out with your partners and have a great workout together. By alternating who exercises with who, you can keep each other on an even keel and help keep your black women’s curves looking as great as possible. It’s a lot better for you both to work out together and it also keeps you from spending all of your time in the gym getting bored because you’re having too much fun with your partner. Remember, you need to keep your body in shape in order to feel good about yourself and your overall self confidence.
Get lots of sleep. Sleep is very important for everyone’s overall health, but especially for black women’s curves. When you get plenty of sleep, you wake up feeling and looking great. This means that you can exercise as much as you want, eat as much chocolate as you like, and still feel great because you’ve got beautiful black women’s curves glowing in the morning.
